Director of Advising and Retention
West Shore Community College seeks applicants for the Director of Advising and Retention. West Shore offers a comprehensive general education curricula designed to meet the needs of students interested in occupational programs leading to immediate employment and students wishing to transfer to a senior institution. West Shore is located in a picturesque area offering year-round recreational activities and serves a multi-county district that includes Mason, Manistee, Lake, and Oceana counties. Annual student population is approximately 1800. The College offers an exciting, challenging, and rewarding work environment.
The Director of Advising and Retention shall be responsible for providing vision and leadership for the college's student-centered advising program, from first-time enrollment through degree attainment. The Director is responsible for integrating, facilitating, enabling, and fostering outcomes driven efforts in academic advising and early alert practices that support student success (retention, persistence, graduation, overall student satisfaction). The Director of Advising and Retention directs professional advising staff, coordinates faculty academic advising, and currently reports to the V.P. of Academics and Student Services. Successful applicants will have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant area of study (e.g. counseling, education, social or behavioral sciences), and a minimum of three years of experience in an educational or social services environment. Position offers a full benefits package, and beginning salary at or above $54,771.
