Overview
USU Extension in Box Elder County is seeking a creative and positive person to support programming efforts and general office operations. Hours will be Monday-Friday 8 am to 5 pm in the USU Extension Office in Brigham City. This is a full-time beneficial position and will work closely with USU Extension faculty in providing programs in Home and Family, Agriculture, Horticulture, and 4-H programs across the county.
Responsibilities
• Performs office duties, including answering phones, directing calls to appropriate parties, data entry, filing, and other general duties as assigned.
• Provides administrative support, including scheduling appointments, coordinating meetings/conferences, and maintaining/ordering office supplies.
• Keeps and maintains financial records for the county operating budget and several USU accounts. Acts as a reconciler for these accounts.
• Creates 4-H events in Zsuites and maintains the online 4-H system, 4-H accounting, and record-keeping including but not limited to 4-H chartering and enrollments.
• Greets and directs visitors in a friendly, professional manner to meet their needs.
• Creates agendas and takes minutes for staff meetings.
• Sorts, screens, and distributes incoming and outgoing mail/newsletter or other correspondence.
• Composes and word-processes various standard documents, messages, and reports.
• Assists 4-H youth and parents, staff members, and office faculty with questions and/or problems.
• Helps the Utah State Junior Turkey show board by receiving and processing turkey poultry orders and show registration payments. Maintain financial records, reconcile accounts, and sustain accounts payable and receivable for both state and county turkey shows.
• Works with the faculty member in charge of the wool pool to keep records of wool producers and finances.
• Assists with the Box Elder County fair as needed.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
• Four years of experience in an office setting or an associate degree/technical training with 2 years of related experience.
• Strong computer and technology skills – Microsoft Office, Google docs, Accounting software/processes, social media, etc.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential business data and personal information.
• Strong organizational, time, and project management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as a team member with a high degree of self-motivation with excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent customer service skills with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to pleasantly interact with a wide variety of individuals.
• Skilled with basic office equipment, including printers, copiers, and telephone systems.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
• A good understanding of Extension efforts.
• Experience working with low-income and under-served audiences.
• Knowledge of the Land Grant University system.
