Validation Engineer
Write, checkout and maintain validation documentation and related documents for Freund-Vector's product lines. Travel as necessary to complete startup, field validation, and/or warranty projects that support the sale of Freund-Vector's product lines.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Tasks:
- Write, checkout, and maintain validation documentation and related documents as required for sold orders and/or R & D projects. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Communicate with the project design team regarding the corrections to the design of the system, including equipment design, software documentation, software code, etc.
- Communicate with Project Management and the other disciplines associated with the design team as required to complete assigned tasks for sold order projects
- Support Service Department as required to resolve problems with equipment in the field
- Participate in factor acceptance testing, startup, and field validation activities associated with sold orders. Travel up to 30% will be required to perform this task.
- Write and maintain equipment checklists that effectively verify that the equipment was assembled and calibrated according to Freund-Vector’s standard procedures.
- Prepare cost estimates to modify standard Freund-Vector protocol to meet customer requirements
Discretionary Tasks:
- Assist in preparation of equipment and system descriptions to be used int eh quote process.
- Interface with the Sales, Purchasing, Assembly, and Service departments and the customer as needed.
- Verify design accuracy with Mechanical, Controls, and Project Engineering personnel as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: 2-year Associate's Degree in electronic or computer technology field is required; 4-year degree in Engineering preferred.
- Experience: 1-3 years’ experience in machine operation and checkout is preferred.
- Special Abilities: Must have excellent ability to conceptualize abstract ideas; May be called upon to communicate with customers on technical issues. PLC programming and troubleshooting experience is a plus. Ability to work with PC computers, knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is required. Ability to understand and troubleshoot other programming languages (HTML, XML, Basic) considered a plus
- Physical Requirements: Must be able to travel (Domestic and International) at least 40%; Agility and flexibility may be required during in-plant debugging activity; Must be able to climb and descend stairs several times daily.
- Mental Requirements: Good organizational skills; Ability to handle stress produced by time pressure, customer demands, etc.; Must be detail oriented. Must be able to write reports and maintain schedules.
