Hiring Range: $13.63 - $17.43 per hour, DOE
Salary Range: $13.63 - $20.48 per hour, DOE
Job Summary: Serves as site supervisor for Adult Volleyball, Flag Football, Basketball, Softball, Girls Fast Pitch, and other recreational sports leagues. Also assists office staff on a daily basis.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Sets up fields and gyms for sports events; Locks and unlocks recreation facilities; Performs field and facility inspections for playability and safety; Performs minor field/gym maintenance on a nightly basis; Checks scoreboard & game clock equipment before each game; Notifies officials of any equipment problems; Acts as official scorekeeper for softball, basketball, flag football and volleyball by keeping a digital and/or hand-written log; Communicates with League managers and enforces league rules; May occasionally fill in as temporary official for league games when scheduled official is late. Records league scores on a daily basis and updates league standings both internally and online for team viewing; Performs roster checks when needed and monitors rosters for illegal players; Reports accidents using approved forms; Reports to Recreation Coordinator - Sports on a weekly/daily basis; Assists with the Department’s needs, such as events, athletic tournaments, and youth programs; Speaks to general public regarding league rule changes, reschedule requests, or clarifications in a professional manner; Enforces city ordinances such as dogs on leashes & alcohol policy; Assist as a back-up receptionist and telephone console operator, receiving and transferring of incoming calls, taking telephone registration information, and provides general department information as required; Oversees recreational sports programs under direction of the Recreation Coordinator – Sports; Perform other related duties as assigned or needed.
Job Specifications: Must be at least16 years of age.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Visual acuity to read officials hand signals; Must have good public relations skills; Must be a good organizer; Must be able to work evenings and some weekends; Must display an attitude of cooperation and the ability to work well with others; Ability to act in an emergency; Ability to work as a team player; Integrity, in the performance of assigned tasks; Ability to communicate with management, co-workers and general public with respect and in a pleasant, courteous manner; Must have clean driving record and current drivers license. Licensing and Certification: CPR and First Aid certified highly desired, but not required.
Work Environment & Physical Demands: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to temperature changes, night lighting and is subject to outside environmental conditions; Constantly requires clarity of speech and hearing, which permits the employee to communicate effectively; Frequently requires repetitive movement of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers; Constantly requires sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, which permits the employee to function in an outside environment to accomplish tasks; Regularly requires lifting and moving up to 50 lbs. and occasionally may lift and/or move more than 100 lbs.
