Ten month seasonal positions now available! Employment with great health care benefits up to 10 months each calendar year with 30 day breaks in January or February then again in October or November based on staffing levels and operational needs. Custodial and weekend shifts are also available. Seasonal Groundskeeper positions are vital to that commitment. Employment is typically from Mid-March to Mid-December, but may vary based on operational needs. Summer positions and weekend shifts are also available.
Job Summary: Seasonal Groundskeepers typically work March to November—summer months and around school. Groundskeepers perform routine and non-scheduled maintenance and construction in Parks and Recreation facilities in any of the following areas, but not limited to, horticulture, pathway maintenance, irrigation, janitorial, shelter preparation, mow crew, softball field preparation, event staffing and infrastructure. Duties often require work on weekends and evenings to support events, occasionally under adverse weather conditions. In addition, duties require work be completed courteously, safely and efficiently. Work performed under supervision of the Parks Foreperson or designated supervisor who issues written or oral work orders. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Assist and support reservations and events in parks, often in evenings or weekends; Assist with turf and plant care including: mowing, edging, pruning, and weed control; Assist with irrigation monitoring, adjustments and repairs; Assist with pathway maintenance: mowing and weed control; Perform shelter and grounds reservation preparation and general site cleanup; Trash collection, disposal, and janitorial duties; Operation and maintenance of light equipment; Assist with building and amenity maintenance including: cleaning, sanding, and painting;
Other Duties & Responsibilities: Available to work weekends and evenings as part of shift or for special events as needed; Expected to care for equipment assigned in the completion of duties; Performs other tasks as assigned or needed; The job duties listed are typical examples of the work performed by this job classification. Job Specifications: General knowledge and skill in the use of hand tools and lawn maintenance equipment; Physically fit and able to work out of doors for extended periods in adverse weather conditions; Attitude of cooperation and maintain effective working relationships with others; Understand and execute oral and written instructions and perform all essential duties of the position with integrity in a timely and professional manner; Complete monthly electronic timecard.
Tools & Equipment Used: Hand Tools: saw, hammer, ratchet, screwdriver, etc.; Pickup truck, mowing equipment, ball field grooming and utility vehicles; String trimmer, backpack blower, edger, push mower, pneumatic, and hand power tools; Dump truck, excavator, skid steer, backhoe, and forklift. Licensing: Possession of valid State of Idaho driver’s license and safe driving record.
Work Environment & Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near maintenance equipment and in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is typically loud; Occasionally may be exposed to hot, humid, and cold conditions; Frequently requires driving a motor vehicle or maintenance equipment; Occasionally requires lifting and moving up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts and/or moves more than 100 pounds. Travel Requirements: Drives a City motor vehicle; Tows trailers and equipment.
