Applications are now being accepted for the position of Traffic Engineer in the Traffic Engineering Department at Ada County Highway District in the Boise, Idaho area. This is an exempt level position, and the starting annual salary is $63,440 - $103,230/ DOQ. Primary Responsibilities: The Traffic Engineer performs professional transportation engineering work including the traffic review of development applications and related traffic impact studies including the traffic flow and safety features of developments and developer funded projects; utilizes a broad knowledge of Traffic Engineering design standards, procedures, principles and practices to develop and monitor design projects; performs traffic engineering and safety investigations; serves as traffic representative on Capital project teams. The Traffic Engineer may also supervise assigned Traffic Engineering staff.
Qualifications: The successful candidate must have comprehensive knowledge of transportation engineering and planning principles and practices. Must also have considerable knowledge of project planning and project management principles and practices, and statistical research procedures as they apply to traffic engineering. Must possess an Idaho Professional Engineering (PE) license, or the ability to obtain within one year. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering or a related Engineering field is required; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
